Its been so fantastic, the students are amazing, they're so sweet (and temper mental LOL)It was an absolutely amazing week HOWEVER...*dun dun dun*
I applied at Community Living like 4 months ago, (they're a group home based organization for adults with severe to mild intellectual disabilities that also does respite and community work) and every monday for these four months I've called the hiring boss man to see if there was any work, 2 DAYS... people 2!! after I got the job at H'art they call and offer me not one, but 2 interviews, one for a group home worker, and one for one on one work with a man who has autism.
Now we look at the pro's and con's
Hart Pros:
- They gave us new lap tops that we can buy into
- They are going to be giving us free seminars and training sessions
- We are responsible for teaching the students advanced social skills
- the staff is decent and the students are all amazing
- The big boss isn't that nice
- They only pay minimum wage
- no benefits
- no rrsp
- MINIMUM WAGE
- is a 5 mth contract position with potential permanent
- I could take seminars, I would pay out of pocket but be reimbursed
- 17.00$ an hour folks!!!
- Benefits
- RRSP (They match up 5% of your bi weekly pays)
- The org has a great reputation
- I don't have a car and they are spread out ALL over kingston
- I'm only guareented 20 hrs a wk (that being said I'd make the same amount for less hrs as I would at hart)
- The staff is apparently (and this is a generalization) a pain in the ass
